Hollywood is all about entertainment. It is the land of stars for its visitors. A place where all prime functions which go into a successful filmmaking are carried out, such as filming in studios, editing, post-production as well as casting of actors. Not only movies but TV shows and even Award functions are held in Hollywood. Many new releases come out each year some making it big at the box office others doing average while some failing the expectations of the viewers miserably! Viewers wait for the new releases anticipating how the movie will be before its release. Comedies, remakes, sequels, and lots more are in store for them
This year’s list of comedies has “You again”, a movie which basically revolves around female rivalries who are out there to get each other for revenge! The cast of the movie comprises of Kristen Bell, Jamie Lee Curtis Sigourney Weaver, Odette Yustman, Kristin Chenoweth and Betty White. The story of the movie is meant to give its viewers some fun and good laughs but does it truly achieve the purpose? Let’s read further and find out.
The story begins with Marni Young (Bell), now well known vice president of a large LA public relations company, giving a speech to her junior officers company. She has had a terrible high school experience which she shares with her colleagues .She was constantly teased by the popular crowd including JJ (Yiutsman) and named as a loser! Her brother helped and supported her to make it through those tough times in High School. She also shares that making it through those tough days has helped her to be the person who she is today.
However, while going back her hometown of Ridgewood, California, for the wedding of her older brother Will (James Wolk ), Marni finds out that the bride-to-be is her high school rival, Joanna (played by Yustman). She tries her best to plot ways to stop her brother’s wedding
What is even more dramatic is that, Joanna’s aunt, Ramona (Weaver), turns out to be Marni’s mother’s (Curtis) own high school rival!.So then Gail’s advice to Marni for mending up her high school differences soon changes when she ends up meeting her own enemy! Although the leading characters have done a great effort on the comic scenes of the movie, you again do not seem to leave a mark on the mind of the viewers as it is similar to a high school comedy. The screen writer could have included more substance in the plot so to keep the audiences entertained! The movie could have been made more comic and funny if Curtis’s and Weavers duet pair on screen would have been used to its full potential.
So, if you are in the mood of watching a light hearted comedy “You again”, may not be so appropriate even though it had all the right ingredients of a humorous comedy flick but somehow the film-makers could not take out the best from the actors to create another award winning comic block buster!
