Shrek 1 and 2 were just mega hits that everyone had high hopes for Shrek 3- Shrek forever after. However, this movie was unable to come up to any expectations that every individual had. It neither as magical nor enchanting as the first movie. The beginning started to show disappointing scenes and one just hoped that they would make up for them somewhere in the movie but even that did not happen. Where there were points where you would laugh and enjoy, you had two movies before to compare to it and that is the reason that it was a sheer disappointment.
Even the humor was not as witty as the first movies and is considered a huge step in the wrong direction. The movie starts off with Shrek getting used to his life as a father and him missing the life he lived, despite the fact that he loved his wife and children. So, he agrees to a deal with Rumpelstiltskin for having his old life back for one day. And for this, he gives up a day from his childhood that he does not even remember.
This day turns out to be the one he was born and he ends up being in a scene where he does not know any of his friends and lives in a world rules by the very same Rumpelstiltskin. A good few laughs are added in it and a few scenes can even be called emotional.
The script is where the problem lies because this is the reason the audience had high expectations from Shrek. Even though the movie has its moments but they lie at a far distance from each other which makes it all the worse. The shining armours for this movie are the characters as they bring light into the movie.
Another positive factor about the movie was the effects added to it. This movie is spectacular if you see it in 3-D with your kids. If you plan to go with your teenage friends or adults then be ready to hear rude comments about it because all in all, Shrek Forever After was a disappointment after the first two amazing flicks!
